Depends on the hospital. Some wear scrubs, some wear street clothes. Some provide scrubs, others make you buy your own.

We wear scrubs because they are more practical than the old white uniform dress with stockings. Nurses have to be able to move easily, lift patients, get dirty, etc. Scrubs are cheap, comfortable, and easy to clean (or dispose of) if dirty.
Floral scrubs are a personal choice based on the individual nurse's taste - you can have wild kinds of scrubs with skulls, hearts, etc:

Can I use cleansing facial scrubs (with beads in them) more often or more vigorously to get the effects of microdermabrasion? Can scrubs rub off enough layers of the skin to reduce age spots?
Hi, thank you for your answers so far. The thing is that I live in a country where they don't sell any of the home micro-dermabrasion creams/kits. All I can get are regular scrub face washes (from supermarket) — so please respond keeping this in mind. Sorry I didn't mention this at the beginning!

My labcoat has stains from undergrad science labs. Is it wise to wash it in the machine (afraid of breaking the machine) or would it be better to handwash it?
if your labcoat has oily stains on it, I wouldn’t recommend washing in the washer but otherwise it should be fine. Cold wash and rinse. If you need a pristine appearance then I would suggest a new labcoat. Otherwise, since they’re made to get a bit messy, go for washing the old one as needed.
