How to get the smell of cat urine out of clothes!?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: scrubs uniforms

Help! My spayed female cat just decided to pee all over my scrub uniforms for work! They were in my laundry basket in my room and she peed in the basket! She has a litter litter pan in my room too, and I clean it every morning! She has never done this before and this is the only time (that I know of) that she's done it. Afterwards, she used her litter box now. It figures, she has to pee on my work uniforms! I have tried soaking the clothes in vinegar and baking soda and the smell is still there! I have to get this smell out of these clothes, I paid a lot of money for them! Can anyone help me??
Thanks to all who respond!
Of course I used the washing machine. duh?
I soaked them in vinegar and baking soda (in the washing machine) overnight, then added a lot of detergent and washed them. That didn't work.

I have a male kitten who is using clothing as a litter box…just had him neutered and am hoping that will take care of that.

Anyway, I've had to wash so many things. They make these spray-on cat pee neutralizers you can buy at grocery stores, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. They are under different brand names but you'll usually find them on the cat supply aisle. In the grocery store I had to look with the carpet cleaning accessories. Make sure the one you get mentions enzymes. Spray it on — I soak the spots — wash it, and you're good to go. Also, I'm not sure it actually helped, but I added about 1/4 cup of ammonia to the last load, and it smelled sweet when it came out.

P.S. You may want to invest in a black light. I bought a portable one that I found with the Halloween supplies and use it to find spots on the carpet. It's VERY obvious under the black light!

Are the watches/clocks that nurses wear on their uniforms called something specific?

I want to look online for different ones.

I think they're fob watches. (Not Fall Out Boy watches [; )

Have any links to somewhere that I can buy a dog like Rowdy from Scrubs?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: scrubs buy

Just a stuffed dog that's the same breed as Rowdy

I would try ebay. Ebay never ceases to amaze me with all its bizarre auction items. If that fails and you REALLY need a stuffed dog like rowdy, there are definately taxidermists out there who could make one. I think it would probably be quite expensive though.

how to find distributors and manufacturers of medical scrub uniforms?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: scrubs uniforms

Go to a local med supply retailer or look one up online and write down some brand names. Contact the brand, who makes it and ask them who their distributors are. Contact distributors and ask them what they need to sell to you (DBA, state sales tax permit, etc…) and get those things. Once you have that account with them, then your set to do retail.

Is it disrespectful to go to a wake in scrubs?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: scrubs

I have a wake to go to today and would like to go on my way home from work, but I don't want to show up in scrubs if it would be considered disrespectful. Opinions?
Thanks everyone. I woke up late this morning and forgot a change of clothes; that's why I was asking. I am going in to sign the book, pay me respects and leaving…don't intend on sitting with the family for 2 hours or anything.

If you wear scrubs to work and can't change, go ahead and attend. The family is supposed to be comforted by your attendance not be there to judge your garb. If you can change, it would be nice to do so. Don't care at all about what other people say. Sign the book, express your regrets, and go home.

Why do doctors and scientists wear white coats?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: lab coats

I mean, why, stereotypically, do you see people who study in the field of medicine always wearing white lab coats?
Why white? What is the significance of a long coat?

White is more of a calming color, so it can calm the patients down, and it a simple color. Also, it goes with the hospital white that is always on the wall. I had one but I spilt strawberry shortcake on it (by accident). not cool.

should nurses be forced to change there uniforms before going home?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: nursing uniforms

should nurses be forced to change there uniforms before going home ,as they walk around shops and supermarkets spreading diseases like mrsa , e-coli , typhoid , hepatitus , maybe its about time we sued them for transporting all these germs , we could use the same guidelines as with the foot and mouth crisis , only nurses are the cattle , what do you think ?

Ah I agree to some extent….but like a previous poster said the nurses are not the only ones to balme. There are many visitors to hospitals that don't know, or don't follow infection control protocol. Many infact don't even wash their hands when leaving the hospital. Hand washing is the number one was to stop infection from spreading. In many hospitals they are not required to change clothes before leaving work. In every hospital or health care facility they should prectice universal precautions this includes wearing gloves, a gown, and masks in needed infectuous situatuions. This is supposed to protect both the patient, the staff member, and the public. In theroy this should keep any clothes and the staff member from becoming infected. And if they were to have become contaminated many of the diseases infectinos you have mentioned do not live outside the body very long making it even more unlikely to be transmitted this way.

I have seen many, many people that wear their work clothes outside of the care setting, but who would want to? Its just gross, even if your clothes have not been contaminated.

Universal precautions refers to the practice, in medicine, of avoiding contact with patients' bodily fluids, by means of the wearing of nonporous articles such as medical gloves, goggles, and face shields. Medical instruments, especially scalpels and hypodermic needles should be handled carefully and disposed of properly in a sharps container. Pathogens fall into two broad categories, bloodborne (carried in the body fluids) and airborne. Standard universal precautions cover both types.

Universal precautions should be practiced in any environment where workers are exposed to bodily fluids, such as:

Blood
Semen
Vaginal secretions
Synovial fluid
Amniotic fluid
Cerebrospinal fluid
Pleural fluid
Peritoneal fluid
Pericardial fluid
Bodily fluids that do not require such precautions include:

Feces
Nasal secretions
Urine
Vomitus
Perspiration
Sputum
Saliva (In the dental setting, saliva is likely to be contaminated with blood, and should be handled properly.)
