when i tell a guy im studying to be a nurse they always go.. ooh there all into kinky stuff and horny etc..
where has this stereotype come from??
There is NOTHING sexy about nurses ~ as in 'that Uniform thing'. Mind you, they were, once, a long time ago now.
I spent about two years of my early life in hospital, and then later, a full 24 years working a large NHS teaching hospital ~ BEFORE the new National Uniform came into use, and the difference is 'DIFFERENT'.
The origins of nursing were that 'Nurses' were disreputable people, as bad as prostitutes and almost as bad as actresses / showgirls. Back then, there was no morality in nursing the sick unless you were a nun, and as I understand it, in origins nursing uniforms were based on the habits worn by nuns. And as nuns were untouchables and therefore seen as Virgins…….. etc.
The easiest answer to your question is that to the eye, 'black stockings' were worn as a part of 'the uniform' ~ and in my neck of the then world, this was accompanied by a 'denim blue' uniform with a white cap, white cuffs to sleeves, a white collar and white apron. But of course, the ‘Black Stocking’ thing was as interesting to men then as it is to the girls who ‘choose to wear them’ now (and of course, ‘sex’ has nothing what~so~ever to do with this at all, has it now!).
All were stiff and starchy ~ they made an actual 'sound' when the nurse walked when freshly put on, and if worn with a slip / petticoat, this could readily add to the 'sounds of femininity'.
Those uniforms were at times often impracticable to wear, especially in the heat of summer. But they were 'smart', unlike the new National Uniform (and there is nothing 'Uniform' about it), and it could be sexy too ….depending upon just who is wearing it.
The term 'Hot', used today, to imply that someone is seen as 'sexy', is in fact not accurate. Nurses uniforms were NOT sexy, it was the eyes of the one looking which saw them in this way, just like the 'Hot' version.
I had a few relationships with nurses and nursing sisters too over the years. Those uniforms could be great fun, but buggers to simply slip out of.
I hope this at least gives you some background / historical information ~ if it doesn't actually answer your question!
